Who We Are

We are a diverse group committed to educating and empowering others while striving to overcome obstacles. Our goal is to organize an event in the Milwaukee area that fosters unity within the black and brown communities, uplifts minority-owned businesses, and supports charity that shares our mission of ensuring security and stability for all.

We paired up with Lead2Change, a non-profit group near and dear to our hearts. Lead2Change is a leading career-readiness organization that engages young people in leadership opportunities and equips them with essential tools to be successful in college, their career and the community. All donations and proceeds raised by this event will go to supporting Lead2Change.

Our Inspiration

Milwaukee is one of the most segregated cities in the U.S., separated by different neighborhoods and areas of the city. We want to host a 5k walk/run and a vibrant festival to shine light on all the amazing things the black and brown communities of Milwaukee are doing to help one another.

We want to promote health and wellness within our communities. Getting people together to participate in a 5k is a great way to promote a healthy lifestyle. We also want to promote building generational wealth in the black and brown communities; we truly believe in leveling the playing field. North Star Resource Group prides itself on “changing lives forever”. As the Milwaukee branch, we strive to do this in our communities.

We partnered with Lead2Change, as they share the same beliefs and values as North Star. Our biggest value is community, always has been and always will be. Lead2Change prepares the next generation for success in school, work and life. We do our part to make sure they are financially sound when they enter adulthood. Together, we do our part in making sure that our youth is set up for success and a prosperous future!

This race and festival will also shine light on minority-owned businesses in Milwaukee. We carefully chose food vendors, entertainment, table vendors and other businesses from both the black and brown communities to be present and have the opportunity to be supported at this event!
